Baltic Triangle station moves closer
Plans to build a new station in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle area, on the former St James site, have moved closer following an agreement worth £1.2 million that has been reached between the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and Network Rail to start the next phase of the design process.
A plot of land next to the railway cutting off Stanhope Street has also been acquired for £300,000, to protect a potential future site for the ticket office.
Funding was provided from the Transforming Cities Fund, and the station also forms part of the Liverpool City Region Long Term Rail Strategy.
