LO ‘710s’ prevail at Liverpool Street
All London Overground trains from Liverpool Street are now operated by Bombardier Class 710s.
Two years later than envisaged, the electric multiple units have replaced 40-year-old Class 315s on routes to Chingford, Cheshunt and Enfield Town.
The delays were caused by software problems on the trains that also affected their introduction onto the Gospel OakBarking route, causing Transport for London to cancel services and replace them with buses due to a lack of stock ( RAIL 875).
The ‘710s’ feature walk-through carriages, free WiFi, real-time information screens, USB charging points and more wheelchair spaces.
As well as the West Anglia Inners, LO ‘710s’ also operate on the Gospel Oak-Barking, RomfordUpminster and Watford JunctionEuston routes.
Fifty-four were ordered (a mixture of AC-only and dualvoltage), with all but five of the EMUs four-car formations, and the rest five-cars. Not all of the dualvoltage sets have been delivered and none of the five-car electric multiple units are in traffic.
