The Midland Main Line Upgrade
As principal contractor for the Midland Main Line Upgrade, Amey Rail was focusing on civil engineering for the largest programme of work to take place on the line since it was built in 1870.
Everything from station upgrades to the creation of new rail sidings and track laying was required, and sustainability targets were an important focus on the project.
Waste reduction measures, staff training on environmental and social responsibility awareness, social, educational and community engagement, and ecology initiatives were just some of the measures taken.
NRA judges said: “All the targets and initiatives are worthy and the right thing to do.”
