Penultimate Inter7City High Speed Train arrives in Scotland

-

The penultimate ScotRail Inter7City High Speed Train was delivered north of the border on November 28.

Set HA20 arrived at ScotRail’s Slateford sidings, having been taken north from Wabtec Rail, Doncaster. The set comprised Trailer Guard’s Miniature Buffet First (TFGB) 40620 (converted from Trailer First 41158), Trailer Standard (TS) 42129, 42200 and 42575. The latter was planned to be in HA19 (the last set to be delivered), but has instead gone into HA20.

They join four other sets at Slateford (HA02/06/15/17), which have been temporarily removed from traffic. The operator is dropping to 81% of service levels from the December timetable change (it’s currently at 91%), and so fewer IC7 sets are required.

Once Cadder depot opens as a stabling and servicing facility at the start of February, at least two IC7 sets are expected to return to traffic.

As well as HA19, SR will receive a further 17 TS vehicles to enable sets to be extended to five-coach formations. One set (HA22) was damaged in the Carmont accident ( RAIL 912).

The Mk 3s have been fitted with sliding doors, controlled emission toilets, and have fully accessible interiors.
