THIS MONTH we’ve been reading The Burning Gates by Parker Bilal (criminal investigations in Egypt); Chaos by DJ Schuette (shades of Red Dragon and Will Graham); The Iron Chariot by Stein Riverton (extremely early Scandi crime: a Nordic Sherlock Holmes with gothic overtones), and the SsangYong Tivoli owner’s manual (automatic windscreen wipers! Gosh, how exciting)
MEANWHILE AT THE MOVIES we applauded the appearance of The Pencil in John Wick2; socks were duly laughed off at all the jokes in the Batman Lego movie, and we mostly lost the plot of Woochi Demon Slayer, possibly because our Korean isn’t entirely up to snuff. Want to see The Great Wall next, but it may not come to the Rebel Cinema in Bude, shock horror!
