LIGHT PEDAL ASSISTANCE
I always look forward to RC’s arrival on the doormat, and 162 is as good as ever. The article about the JES motocyclette is interesting to me as I’ve recently bought an electrically assisted bicycle for my 20 mile round trip commute. Although separated by 100 years, the two machines fulfil similar functions and meet similar needs. The performance is roughly the same too. One difference is that my Gazelle requires constant LPA, but its disc brakes are doubtless a vast improvement on its elderly cousin’s anchors.
I doubt it’ll still be being ridden a century from now though... Dan Stevens, member 4440
