ACCEPT, EMBRACE AND LOVE YOUR BODY

Red - - SELF - TALLY RYE, PERSONAL TRAINER AND CO-FOUNDER OF #GIRLGAINS ONLINE MOVEMENT

“People assume being healthy is about losing weight or looking a certain way. My mission – with my partners in the #Girlgains online community, Zanna Van Dijk and Victoria Spence – is to empower women to learn to love your body as it is, and love yourself as you are. Our mantra is: Accept, Embrace, Love. Accept you have the body you’ve been given. So, I can’t be 6ft 2in and that’s fine. Then, embrace the things that make you special and unique. Learn to understand the things you might have seen as flaws are assets, and learn to love them.

“Girlgains is personal to all three of us. I struggled with body confidence and image. I was overweight throughout my teens, and spent my school years avoiding PE. When I went to drama school, I soon realised I needed to be fitter, and started to use Instagram to share my fitness and nutrition journey. But I got myself into a place where I became really obsessed with tracking my food and trying to look as lean as possible. Fortunately, friends intervened. I had to learn to listen to my body, find a way to develop a good relationship with food and exercise. #Girlgains is about sharing that.”
