‘I’m seriously happy’
Three months after suffering a heartbreaking miscarriage, singer Charlotte Church ties the knot with musician Jonathan Powell…
With flowers in her tousled hair as she dances with her long-term love, Charlotte Church flashes a huge smile at the photographer capturing the heartwarming moment.
‘Seriously happy, people,’ Charlotte enthused in the Twitter caption last week.
The stunning picture was in fact taken a month earlier, by Charlotte’s cousin, at the Voice Of An Angel’s secret wedding ceremony to musician Jonathan Powell.
Charlotte, 31, and Jonathan, 30, exchanged their vows in September – just three months after announcing she had tragically lost the first baby they were expecting together.
The couple then officially married at a register office in their home city of Cardiff on October 2, with just a handful of close friends and family invited, before a blessing ceremony was held under a tree at their home.
In keeping with the relaxed theme, Charlotte – who is worth a reported £9 million – was no bridezilla in the lead-up to her big day, admitting she bagged her hippy-chic wedding dress at a reduced price.
Replying to a fan’s comment about her gown, she said, ‘Shhhhh… it was
£300 in the sale!’
The star, who found fame as a classical singer aged just 11, began dating Jonathan in 2010 after splitting with rugby player Gavin Henson, 35, father of her two children, Ruby, 10, and Dexter, eight.
In more recent years, former party girl Charlotte has shunned the limelight
for a quiet family life.
A source close to the pair revealed, ‘Charlotte and Jonathan have been in love for a long time, and a wedding was always on the cards.
‘They wanted to keep things low-key and swore all the guests to secrecy as they married under a tree. ‘Jonathan has been a great influence on her, and she’s calmed down a lot since she met him.’
A HAPPY END TO A TOUGH YEAR
In May, Charlotte announced she was pregnant with her third child, her first with Jonny.
But, three weeks later, she broke the news that they had lost their baby. It’s believed the baby was due in November.
‘Now is a time for grieving and being together as a family,’ she said at the time. ‘We kindly ask everyone to respect that peace.’
In a rare interview about her family earlier this year, Charlotte revealed she hadn’t ‘ruled out’ having more children.
‘I’m really happy with my dude. He’s lush, he’s so smart and he really looks after me,’ she said.
‘I don’t know [if we’ll have kids] but I’d never rule out anything. Never say never!’
Charlotte was briefly engaged to Gavin in 2010, and they had planned to marry on an island hideaway with their children as bridesmaid and page boy.
Yet, just weeks after their engagement, the couple split, but they’re said to have remained amicable.
Gavin, meanwhile, is dating 28-year-old Katie WilsonMould, the stepdaughter of late property tycoon Raymond Mould. They, too, live in South Wales, with Gav now playing for Newport Gwent Dragons.
