‘You need quality time together to be better parents’
Peter Andre and wife Emily chat to us about taking time out as a couple, life with four kids, and how baby Theo’s finally letting them get some sleep…
Despite years of starring in fly-onthe-wall reality TV shows, these days, Peter Andre tends to keep his marriage with wife Emily out of the public eye.
But, after the cute couple made a rare red carpet appearance together at the Pride Of Britain Awards last week, they were keen to chat to us about their recent holiday.
Dazzling in a black-andwhite gown, Emily revealed, ‘We’ve just come back from Dubai. It was lovely to spend some quality time together.’
Although the gorgeous junior doctor is mum to Amelia, three, and 11-monthold Theo – as well as stepmum to Junior, 12, and Princess, 10, from Peter’s marriage to Katie Price – she insists that taking time away from their kids is important to their parenting.
‘I do think you need time together as a couple to be better parents,’ admitted the 28-year-old.
‘HE’S A VERY HANDS-ON DAD’
While they both looked glamorous on the red carpet, Peter confessed that they have a hectic home life.
‘Today, I was making pancakes with one hand while Theo was hanging on to my leg,’ he laughed. ‘Then I had Bista [his nickname for Princess] on my back, and Junior yelling at me and trying to throw a ball for me to catch.’
Giggling along with her husband, Emily agreed with Pete, and gushed about how he’s a ‘great dad’, adding, ‘He’s very hands-on.’
‘I SLEEP-TRAINED THEO!’
Appearing on ITV’s Lorraine back in April, Peter admitted that he was ‘surviving on very little sleep’ because Theo wasn’t sleeping through the night.
But when the singer, 44, briefly left the Pride Of Britain red carpet to sign autographs for his young fans, Emily smiled that the couple had finally cracked it…
‘Theo’s sleeping now – yay!’ she rejoiced. ‘I sleep-trained him. He’s amazing now.’
The mum-of-two – who married Peter in July 2015 – also revealed that her baby is nearly walking.
‘He’s nearly, nearly there
– I feel like he tricked us, as he kind of progressed really quickly at about seven months, and now he’s just taking it easy,’ she laughed.
And, although she loves being a stay-at-home mum, Emily added that she’s looking forward to going back to work.
‘I’m excited for the work side of it, but nervous about leaving the kids. But I think that’s normal,’ she said.
