Yes. You prob­a­bly have oti­tis ex­terna – a fancy name for in­fec­tion of the outer ear canals. If you keep wa­ter out of them and stop prod­ding about with your finger or cot­ton buds then it may set­tle down on its own – the ear canal can clean it­self. If you’re a swim­mer, you can avoid water­log­ging by us­ing earplugs. If you think you have eczema in the ear canals, you can get some hy­dro­cor­ti­sone cream from the chemist, which may help. If it’s not get­ting bet­ter, then you’ll needs drops or a spray from your GP. Be care­ful putting any­thing in your ear – the eardrum is sur­pris­ingly close to the sur­face.
