STAGE THREE Lake Vyrnwy to Corris

After lunch in Artisans, cross the Lake Vyrnwy dam and turn right, carrying straight on in Abertridwr as the road becomes the B4393 to Llanfyllin. When it reaches a T-junction, turn right (almost doubling back on yourself) on the B4395 to Llwydiarth. At the A458 T-junction, turn right towards Dolgellau, but at the A470 roundabout, turn left to Llangurig. At the next roundabout, turn right on the A489 to Machynlleth. When you get to the clock tower in the town centre, turn right at the traffic lights and follow the A487 towards Dolgellau.

Afternoon coffee: Y Crochan Café About five miles outside Machynlleth, look out for signs for the Corris Craft Centre and King Arthur’s Labyrinth on the right. Turn in here and follow the road round to the car park: there’s a good café attached to the craft centre. www.corriscraftcentre.co.uk
