BUYING CHECKLIST

-

Do you want to ride with the wind in your face?

Check the label on the helmet’s chin strap. If it ends “P/J” it’s approved for use with the flip up or down. If the only indication is a “P” then the lid is rated only for riding with the flip down.

How does it fit?

As with all helmets, the right fit is critical. You need to have it on for long enough to check that it doesn’t put pressure anywhere, while also checking that it doesn’t move or roll on your head with the flip down. Then raise the flip and check how it feels. If it’s loose, heavy or unbalanced, it’s not the right flip for you.

Check the chin-strap

Unlike race helmets, which use double D-ring adjusters, most flips have a ratchet or buckle to fasten the chin strap. Make sure it’s correctly adjusted for you – and if you buy the helmet, check/readjust it regularly.
