GS fork checks now official recall
BMW has announced a “safety recall” of every R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure built between November 2013 and June 2017. This relates to the possibility that repeated impacts could open a gap between the fork stanchion tubes and their top seal plugs which, in a worst-case scenario, could cause the forks to separate from the bike. A total of 11,185 machines are affected in the UK (including RIDE’S long-termer) with 169,000 globally.
Owners of all affected GSS will be contacted and BMW dealers will perform the work free of charge.
