CARL FOG­A­RTY Four-time WSB cham­pion Carl Fog­a­rty crashed heav­ily while com­pet­ing at the Dirtquake ‘al­ter­na­tive mo­tor­ing fes­ti­val’ in King’s Lynn. He was rac­ing a mod­i­fied Street Triple in the event when he high­sided, break­ing a shoul­der, mul­ti­ple ribs and a punc­tur­ing a lung. He’s promised he’ll never race again.

V-TWIN SU­PER­BIKES Du­cati’s new 1299 Pani­gale R Fi­nal Edi­tion marks the be­gin­ning of the end of V-twin su­per­bikes. The an­nounce­ment of the £35,000, 207bhp spe­cialedi­tion ma­chine ac­knowl­edges not just that its days are num­bered but also the im­pend­ing ar­rival of Du­cati’s 1000cc V-four re­place­ment. The Pani­gale is the last re­main­ing flag­ship V-twin superbike, af­ter KTM dis­con­tin­ued its RC8R at the end of 2015 and EBR de­cided to “wind down” pro­duc­tion in Jan­uary of this year.
