CE rating
Motorcycle boots have their own CE rating system, under either EN13634:2015 or EN13634:2017, introduced in 2015 and 2017 respectively. The 2015 standard shows three numbers, either ‘1’ or ‘2’, corresponding to Abrasion Resistance, Impact Cut Resistance and Transverse Rigidity. The 2017 standard adds another, initial number for the height of the boot. In this case, 1 means a short boot and 2, a tall one. In the other three categories for both standards, 1 indicates a basic pass and 2 is a superior pass. There are other measures that can also form part of the CE Rating, such as ‘WR’ for Water Resistant or ‘WAD’ for water displacement from inside.
