Struggling Spireites sure to put up a scrap

-

KEITH Hill expects Chesterfield to give all they’ve got in the fight for survival – despite appearing doomed to relegation.

The Spireites are second bottom of League One, ten points adrift of safety and rapidly running out of fixtures to turn save themselves. Hill said facing Dale would be a tough call for the home side – but expects them to put up a fight.

“It will be a tough task for Gary Caldwell. He is an intelligent manager and he was excelent for Wigan,” said Hill. “He’s always fighting, digging and climbing at Chesterfield now because of the position they were in. We certainly won’t be giving them any help, we’ll be going there trying to get three points.

“I think their players will still be fighting, the manager fights and good people, good teams, when they hit rock bottom, they bounce. So we won’t be complacent.”

Hill pointed that his side, with one win from 12 games, are not flying themselves.

“We are not in good form, I would have thought they are probably in similar sort of form to ourselves. We’ve done some brilliant stuff and accumulated points in the early part of the season, so we won’t disrespect anyone and I’ve said before, we don’t play league positions, we play teams and we will always respect any opponent.”
