Parents urged to apply for secondary places

Rochdale Observer - - MOORLAND HOME FUN DAY -

THE kids might have just gone back to school this week - but applications for next year’s places are already open.

Applications for pupils who start secondary school in September 2018 must be submitted by Tuesday, October 31.

They can be made at rochdale.gov.uk/ schooladmissions.

Schools admissions staff at Number One Riverside are also on hand at a series of drop in sessions to help people with the applications.

Drop in sessions will be held every Tuesday throughout September and October from 10am-noon (with October 31 being 10am-5pm).

Coun Donna Martin, cabinet member for children’s services, said: “Missing the deadline for applications can be disastrous for families, as it can mean not being allocated a place at their preferred school. The best way to maximise your chances of getting into your preferred school is by applying before the deadline, which is October 31. I would also encourage you to make sure you use all your preferences as only putting one will not mean that your child will definitely be allocated a place at that school. The online system is really easy and the convenience of it will be a real benefit to parents.”

Primary School admission opens later in the year, further details will be announced.
