Man left fight­ing for his life af­ter be­ing hit by car

A MAN is fight­ing for his life in hospi­tal af­ter be­ing hit by a car.

The col­li­sion, in­volv­ing a Vaux­hall As­tra, took place on Crompton Way, in Shaw, on Saturday just be­fore 11.50am.

The pedes­trian, aged 26, was taken to hospi­tal in an am­bu­lance with a se­ri­ous head in­jury.

He re­mains in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion.

The driver re­mained at the scene to speak with of­fi­cers and no ar­rests have been made.

Greater Manch­ester Po­lice have launched an in­ves­ti­ga­tion and are ap­peal­ing for any wit­nesses to come for­ward.

Po­lice Sergeant Brian Orr, of GMP’s Se­ri­ous Col­li­sion In­ves­ti­ga­tion Unit, said: “We are do­ing all we can to sup­port the man’s fam­ily at this very trau­matic time and our thoughts re­main with him as he fights for his life in hospi­tal.

“Our in­ves­ti­ga­tion to es­tab­lish the cir­cum­stances sur­round­ing this col­li­sion re­mains on­go­ing and I would ask that any­body with in­for­ma­tion con­tacts the Se­ri­ous Col­li­sion In­ves­ti­ga­tion Unit.

“We are ap­peal­ing for anyone that wit­nessed the col­li­sion or may have any CCTV or dash-cam footage to please get in touch.”
