IN Castle­ton 123 years ago, a so­ci­ety was formed to im­prove adult ed­u­ca­tion.

In 2017 the Castle­ton Lit­er­ary and Sci­en­tific So­ci­ety is still go­ing strong and has just an­nounced its au­tumn and win­ter sea­son pro­gramme:

The Lit­er­ary and Sci­en­tific So­ci­ety meets on Fri­day evenings from 7pm un­til 9pm. The pre­sen­ta­tions last for an hour and are fol­lowed by ques­tions, tea and bis­cuits. Mem­ber­ship costs £20 per year, non-mem­bers £2 per evening. Call 01706
