Carpet business is a family affair

Rochdale Observer - - CHILD SEX ABUSE INQUIRY -

A CARPET retailer is keeping it in the family as the owner brings her daughter on board to join the team.

Marie Bakelow has been appointed as sales advisor at United Carpets & Beds on Union Street, Rochdale – the business is owned by her mum Janis Bakelow, and she hopes to follow in her footsteps.

Janis took over the franchise in October 2014 and is celebrating a successful three years at the helm.

She said: “Marie has previously helped out in the store and she’s such a natural with customers that it was a no-brainer; I had to have her join the team officially.

“Customers know they can trust her and she’s building great relationships with them. A lot of our business is currently from repeat customers who have been pleased with our service.”

Marie added: “I’m really proud to join mum and her team. The customers are lovely and it’s great to see them coming back again knowing we’ve helped make their redecorating a little easier.”

Janis’ husband also owns the United Carpets & Beds showroom in Cheadle, Stockport, so it truly is a family affair.
