Norman red card was poor decision
KEITH Hill believed referee Matt Donohue and his team got it wrong in dismissing goalkeeper Magnus Norman on Tuesday.
The Dale stopper was sent off for a challenge on Stefan Payne towards the end of the first half and while Hill was pleased with the manner in which his players responded, he was less than impressed by the officials.
“The first half ended dramatically with Magnus getting sent off and then the second half is very difficult but I thought we managed it very well,” he said. “You are always going to come under pressure, the opposition will always create opportunities, but I thought it was pretty even in the second half. I thought the body language from the players was superb and reflected our identity, so I am pretty pleased.
“Magnus shouldn’t have been sent off, they (the match officials) contrived to make a real mess of it. The referee doesn’t know, the linesman doesn’t know and between them they try to create this picture for the supporters and for the technical area I suppose, that they are doing what they are supposed to be doing and doing what they know is correct, but we just want correct decisions and they didn’t make the correct decision in sending Magnus off.”
