Brewing up charity cash
COFFEE cups were drained and cakes tasted across the borough to mark the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning fundraiser.
Specsavers in Rochdale held a coffee morning for Macmillan Cancer Research, selling a selection of delicious sweet treats for their customers, raising more than £100 for the charity.
Staff treated visitors to a bake sale, which included mouthwatering chocolate fudge cake, cupcakes, brownies and cherry bakewells.
Sarah Culshaw, store director at the Yorkshire Street opticians, said: “It was brilliant to see what the team had whipped up for the day.
“The whole day was really successful and everyone had a wonderful time selling snacks for a good cause.”
Fundraisers were also held at Rochdale council and a Bake Off at Rochdale Sixth Form College, while Dale In The Community Trust’s Dale’s Silver 60s group raised almost £200 for Macmillan Nurses.
The Dale first team squad and management attended, donating to the cause and enjoying cups of coffee and a chat with the club’s senior citizens activity group the Silver 60s.
