Broad­way clas­sic com­ing to town

ROCHDALE ac­tors will bring the magic of a Broad­way clas­sic to the stage.

Rochdale Mu­si­cal Theatre Com­pany is set to fol­low its last show, The Full Monty, with an­other high en­ergy per­for­mance – Rent, staged at Hey­wood Civic Cen­tre.

Set in 1989 in the East Vil­lage of New York, Rent fol­lows a year in the life of a group of young artis­tic peo­ple, fall­ing in love, find­ing their voices and liv­ing for the mo­ment,

Win­ner of a Tony Award for Best Mu­si­cal and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, this mu­si­cal fea­tures songs such as Sea­sons of Love and I’ll Cover You. The show, which ran for 12 years on Broad­way, deals with hard-hit­ting prob­lems faced by some young peo­ple at the end of the 1980s.

The per­for­mances are suit­able for over-16s and run from Tues­day, Novem­ber 20 to Satur­day, Novem­ber 24, nightly at 7.30pm.
