MRS Joyce Lilian Fletcher nee Walton, formerly of Richard Street, Weir, Bacup died on Friday, August 18 at Crawshaw Hall nursing home, Crawshawbooth, aged 63.
Joyce had worked as a care assistant at Burwood House in Bacup before her illness.
Her hobbies included camping, reading and word puzzles. Other interests included homelessness and social issues, especially the Salvation Army, who she had a lifelong association with.
She leaves her husband Maurice, daughter Helen and husband John and their children, Abby and Connor, son-in-law Tom and sons Mark and Matt.
Her funeral service took place on Wednesday, August 30 at Burnley Crematorium officiated by Major Lorraine O’Neill of the Salvation Army.
Donations in Joyce’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army c/o funeral director Graham Holt for Knight & Boys Funeral Services. CYRIL Smith of Stacksteads passed away on Saturday, August 26 aged 85 at The Manor House Nursing Home in Chatburn.
Cyril was born in Whitworth and lived in Bacup and Stacksteads for most of his life.
After school Cyril trained as a joiner and then served with the RAF for National Service as a gaf turbine engineer.
When he left the RAF he set up his own business as a joiner and contractor until he retired in 1996.
Cyril loved to spend time with his family and was interested in aircraft and the Second World War.
He was very keen on playing piano, playing golf and was a member of Bacup Golf Club.
He was also a member of Bacup Rotary Club and became president in 1984-85.
He leaves his wife Janet, daughter Karen and her partner Arthur, son Christopher and his partner Amy, grandchildren Chloe, Lewis and Marley, also several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
His funeral is due to be held on Tuesday, September 5 at 1.40pm at Burnley Crematorium officiated by the Reverend Andy Froud.
Family flowers only and donations if wished to Alzheimer’s Research UK, which can be given at the service or to a family member.
