BARRY Hyde, member of the Promoting Rossendale Partnership Board, takes a look at The Rossendale Business Awards THE Rossendale Business Awards are organised by Valley at Work and are an annual showcase for the achievement, quality and diversity of the local businesses and enterprising people who make Rossendale such a great place to live, work and visit.
The 2017 competition will be the 8th Rossendale Business Awards, which have grown to become the largest local business event of the year.
Last year more than 100 businesses were nominated and over 200 business people filled the Riverside in Whitworth to capacity for the ceremony.
This year there are 19 award categories – Valley at Work, Business of the Year, New Business, Artisan Business, Enterprising Young Person, Employer of the Year, Micro Business, Community Business, Tourism Award, Independent Retailer, Creative Business, Part-time Business, Customer Friendly Business, Sole Trader, Enterprising Woman, Apprenticeship, Pride of our Valley, Service Business and the Rossendale Free Press Award. Any member of the Rossendale community is able to nominate a business, organisation or individual for an award in the Rossendale Business Awards 2017.
All of the awards are sponsored by local businesses, without which the Awards simply could not happen. So the organisers would like to thank them for their continued support. All of the categories, details of those who qualify and a simple online nomination form can be found on their website at www.r- awards.co.uk.
Nominations are currently open, with the closing date for nominations being Wednesday, September 20. This is a great opportunity for you to nominate a business, group or individual that you feel is worthy of public recognition. The Award ceremony will once again be held at Riverside in Whitworth on the evening of Wednesday, November 15.
