New group to reduce loneliness
A KNIT and Natter group has been launched in Waterfoot in a bid to reduce loneliness and isolation.
The group was set up by Irene Dean six weeks ago and is held every Tuesday from 10am to 12noon at JW Churnside & Son Chapel of Rest, on Burnley Road East.
There are tea, coffee and biscuits on offer and members can provide help with crocheting and knitting.
All abilities are welcome, and Irene is keep to build on the current five members.
Irene said: “We want to get people who are lonely out of the house for a couple of hours.
“A lot of elderly people are lonely and this group lets people learn a new skill and we have a laugh. Even if people don’t want to knit then can sit and have a cup of tea and a chat.”
