Gary completes epic charity challenge
A RUNNER who set himself an epic charity challenge has tasted double success.
Gary Morton, from Helmshore, successfully completed 31 marathons in as many days and has also surpassed his £30,000 fundraising target for a cancer charity.
Gary, who works for DW Sports, ran his final 26-mile run to work in Pemberton on October 29, finishing at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, exactly a month and more than 800 miles after the challenge began.
Gary’s mother-inlaw Gillian Walker is being treated at Clatterbridge after being diagnosed with skin cancer four years ago, which spread to her liver and lung.
More than 800 supporters have helped Gary raise more than £32,400 via his justgiving page so far
Gary, 43, said the support of family, friends and even strangers kept him going during a “tough few weeks”. ●● Gary Morton in road race action
