Le­gion un­veils stan­dard on church pa­rade

ANEW stan­dard has been un­veiled at a spe­cial ser­vice by mem­bers of the Hasling­den branch of the Royal Bri­tish Le­gion.

The old stan­dard was pa­raded into St Pe­ter’s Church in Hasling­den where it was handed to Fr Stephen Brown. After a short ser­vice the new stan­dard was brought for­ward and blessed by the vicar be­fore the Last Post was played.

Amy Thomp­son, sec­re­tary of the Hasling­den branch, said the new stan­dard will be used ●● The Hasling­den branch of The Royal Bri­tish Le­gion hold a new branch stan­dard ded­i­ca­tion cer­e­mony at St Pe­ter’s Church, Hasling­den. and pa­raded at the Hasling­den Re­mem­brance Sun­day event in the Me­mo­rial Gar­dens.

She said: “It took a lot of hard work to pull ev­ery­thing to­gether and a mas­sive thank you needs to be ex­tended to Dave Elt­man, the county pa­rade mar­shall, James Mcau­ley, Ste Flan­nery, Ed­die Bai­ley and John Ship­man.

“Our branch is go­ing from strength to strength and hope­fully our pres­ence in the com­mu­nity will con­tinue to grow, en­abling us to con­tinue the vi­tal work of The Royal Bri­tish Le­gion.”

The ser­vice on Sun­day, Oc­to­ber 29, was at­tended by the Mayor and May­oress, Royal Bri­tish Le­gion county chair­man Michael Turner, vice chair­man Phillip Rees and other dig­ni­taries.
