Nomination joy for gym

A GYM has celebrated its first anniversary with a special award nomination.

Fit4Life Health and Fitness, based in Rising Bridge, opened 12 months ago and already has around 1,000 members.

Owner Luke Hamer said the gym has now been shortlisted in the final five of the National Fitness Awards’ ‘ best newcomer’ category, out of 2,300 entrants.

Luke, 33, who lives in Haslingden, said it would be the ‘ icing on the cake’ if they win. He said: “We’ve been through an in-depth application process where they’ve had mystery shoppers in the gym to look at what we offer and they’ve been checking our website and social media posts. It will be great for the club if we could win it. If we don’t then we’ve still been recognised by our peers as one of the top five new gyms in the country.

“To make it through to the final five is fantastic but it would be great to finish it off with a win. Our first year has gone really well. We’ve hit every target that we’ve set and have a strong membership and I think this award reflects that as well.”

The winner will be announced at a ceremony in Leicester in December.
