Chocolate festival expected to attract thousands

-

ORGANISERS and traders are gearing up for the tenth annual Ramsbottom Chocolate Festival.

Taking place on the March 24-25 weekend, the pre-Easter event will be spread throughout the town, giving visitors the chance to sample the full range of bars and independent shops.

Among a huge range of exhibitors at the event, which is expected to attract thousands of visitors, will be The Great British Cheese Company, with its range of bespoke cheeses.

Visitors will be able to sample their new ‘triple chocolate indulgence’ cheese, made from Wensleydale, luxury chocolate powder and chunks of white and dark chocolate.

Keith Jenkins, of the Crewe-based cheese artisans, said they always develop a product with the festival in mind, following on from last year’s chocolate orange cheese.

He said: “We think it’s nice melted on a digestive biscuit with a slice of banana.

“It’s very chocolatey. It tastes like a chocolate cheesecake.”

The firm sells a variety of flavours in 200g truckles.

Keith added: “It’s just a nice family festival. It’s local and we always do very well there.”
