Hungry Hawks swoop on every chance

-

STEPHEN FELINSKI HASLINGDEN Girls and Ladies FC Hawks Under 10s were in action against Pendle Forest U10s at the weekend.

The Hawks organised themselves in to the game extremely well with great positioning and intelligent passing. They were rewarded for their efforts on seven minutes when Alex Wilkinson scored. Wilkinson scored again on 18 minutes giving Haslingden a strong hold on the game

Izzy Dunne and Zoe Green had a great game in defence and allowed the other girls to push up the pitch to create a real attacking format. Fern Ashworth was proving difficult to handle putting in some good crosses in to the box.

Millard, Young, and Halewood came on from the subs bench, but the changes didn’t hamper the girl’s efforts and they continued to push in the game. Towards the end of the first half, Pendle Forest were starting to attack more and the Hawks had to work hard to defend well. Meadow Young made some effective tackles – you couldn’t spot this was her first game for the Hawks.

The second half started well from both sides but it was Poppy Millard for the Hawks who scored first on 30 minutes. This sparked a flurry of goals with Williams adding a fifth on 31 minutes and Millard scoring again on 32 minutes. Daisy Halewood added fantastic support in this half which allowed the chances for the Hawks to flow.

Pendle Forest had several chances and were rewarded with their first goal on 41 minutes.

It was a great game of football in the second half with great chances from both teams. Eve Hadley had a great game in goal to keep the score in the Hawks’ favour. Pendle Forest scored the last goal of the game on 49 minutes.
