COUNCILLORS NEED SKILLS
I HAVE just been reading the Free Press on page 4 where Councillor Barnes states the now quite common excuse of lessons learnt in relation to the AAAW £4 million loss.
It then occurred to me to ask the question - do councillors have any management qualifications?
In private industry any director or manager in control of a multi-million pound budget would need to have a business degree or MBA masters degree, is that the case in local Government?
We would definitely not let someone operate on a brain without a medical degree.
Am I true in saying that in local government we have a group of people without the relevant skills, knowledge, experience or qualifications who simply attempt to manage a £34 million council?
