Another snow day means more chaos

-

THE return of snow caused yet more chaos across the Valley in what was (perhaps) the last icy blast of winter.

Snow and sleet made driving conditions difficult and even made some roads impassable on the morning of Thursday, March 8.

Grane Road was closed in the early morning from the M65 to Haslingden and re-opened at around 11.30am later in the day.

For many Rossendale residents it heaped on more frustration in a start to the year in which it has seemed that spring would never arrive.

Jayne Turner tweeted: “Traffic chaos in Haslingden. Roads at standstill.” And @Amee_ Clemo remarked: “The snow in Rossendale is actually ridiculous, as soon as you leave there is not a drop in sight!”

Bus services were also affected by cancellations and delays, while Bacup Nursery School and Crawshawbooth Primary School were both shut for the day.
