Changes given approval
DEVELOPERS building three detached homes have successfully applied to amend proposals which were originally approved more than a decade ago.
The site, on land adjacent to Deans grave, off Helmshore Road, Haslingden has been subject to more than a dozen planning applications, refusals and appeals over more than a decade.
As part of the changes, the application by developer Mr Alan Worthington was for the outside of the buildings to be rendered instead of entirely covering them with natural stone.
Several windows will now no longer be installed.
Four councillors voted in favour of the proposals at a meeting of the planning committee - after an unsuccessful attempt by Coun Jimmy Eaton to see the application refused.
Coun Andrea Fletcher said it was a ‘tricky’ decision, but was among members to back it for approval.
Outline planning permission was granted for the homes in 2005, with full permission granted, after appeal, in 2007.
