Scooter fans on their way
SCOOTER lovers will descend on Rossendale this week for the inaugural ‘Rally in the Valley’.
The three-day event is being held separately for the first time following its previous success as part of the Rossendale 60s Festival.
Organisers Darren Ashworth, of the Stacksteads Lone Riders Scooter Club, and Barry Hyde of the 60s Festival said they are broadening the range of facilities and activities and want to make it a ‘great family weekend’.
It will include scooter stands, market stalls and a ‘ride out’ through the Valley to Hollingworth Lake.
There will also be scooter competitions with trophies and entertainment from various bands.
The Rally in the Valley will take place at Marl Pits Leisure Centre in Rawtenstall from Friday, June 8, to Sunday, June 10. Visitors can camp for the whole weekend for £15. Campervans cost £20 and a day pass costs £5.
Mod band The Itch will perform on Friday night from 7pm followed by DJ Tony Kennedy and headline band The Rics on Saturday night. All proceeds will go towards covering event costs with any leftover money going towards next year.
