Scooter fans on their way

SCOOTER lovers will de­scend on Rossendale this week for the in­au­gu­ral ‘Rally in the Valley’.

The three-day event is being held sep­a­rately for the first time fol­low­ing its pre­vi­ous suc­cess as part of the Rossendale 60s Festival.

Or­gan­is­ers Dar­ren Ash­worth, of the Stack­steads Lone Rid­ers Scooter Club, and Barry Hyde of the 60s Festival said they are broad­en­ing the range of fa­cil­i­ties and ac­tiv­i­ties and want to make it a ‘great fam­ily week­end’.

It will in­clude scooter stands, mar­ket stalls and a ‘ride out’ through the Valley to Holling­worth Lake.

There will also be scooter com­pe­ti­tions with tro­phies and en­ter­tain­ment from var­i­ous bands.

The Rally in the Valley will take place at Marl Pits Leisure Cen­tre in Rawten­stall from Fri­day, June 8, to Sun­day, June 10. Vis­i­tors can camp for the whole week­end for £15. Cam­per­vans cost £20 and a day pass costs £5.

Mod band The Itch will per­form on Fri­day night from 7pm fol­lowed by DJ Tony Kennedy and head­line band The Rics on Satur­day night. All pro­ceeds will go to­wards cov­er­ing event costs with any left­over money go­ing to­wards next year.
