Pictures show prizes and pets
IN this week’s Memory Lane feature we are taking a look back at the places, people and pets in the Valley in years gone by
Our regular nostalgia contributor Peter Fisher has shared with us a selection of pictures taken down the decades, showing a Scottish event, a decades-old moggy, a new rose queen, a good-as-new sale and an RNLI presentation.
Our first picture of the week (top left), shows the new rose queen at Baxenden Methodist Church, Julian Wynne, with her retinue.
Next (top right), we have a picture of Tiger, the 23-year-old cat from Water, believed to be one of the Valley’s oldest at the time.
Below that (right) is a shot of a good-as-new sale at Baxenden Methodist Church.
Next (bottom right), there is a picture showing the presentation of a silver badge to Mrs M P Ashworth of Ashville in recognition of 21 years of service as treasurer of the local branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI).
Finally (below), we have a shot of a Girls’ Brigade Scottish Evening at Haslingden United Reformed Church.
Do you remember what years these pictures were taken or have stories and shots of your own to share? Please get in touch.
Many thanks to all our regular contributors.
