Cancer team raises more than £18,000
A COMMITTEE is celebrating after its fundraising efforts helped raise more than £18,000 for Cancer Research UK.
The Cancer Research UK Bacup committee raised the total in the first 10 months of the year to part-fund research into personalised treatment for pancreatic cancer.
Shirley Adams, chairperson of the Bacup Committee, said they are ‘so pleased’ to have raised the sum for life-saving research. She added: “We’re confident that we are on track to meet our overall target. Our teams have really embraced the challenge with passion and creativity and we are grateful to each and every one of them for their support.”
Fundraising activities this year have included quiz nights, a spring fair, and in-store collections.
The annual Christmas Fair will be held on Sunday, December 1 at Central Methodist Church, Burnley Road, Bacup, from 10am to noon. Admission for adults is £1 and children 50p with coffee and mince pies. Stalls will include hand-made gifts and a tombola.
