Sri Lanka all-round star signs for Bacup

BACUP Cricket Club has an­nounced the sign­ing of a new pro­fes­sional.

They have re­cruited 31-year-old Sri Lankan all rounder Sa­chithra Seras­inghe for the 2019 sea­son.

Sa­chithra, a right handed ag­gres­sive bats­man and right arm off spin­ner, has 13 years of first class cricket ex­pe­ri­ence in his own coun­try and cur­rently plays for Dam­bulla.

In first class matches he has scored 7,281 runs at a very healthy av­er­age of 44.12 with 19 cen­turies to his name and a high­est score of 209.

In ad­di­tion he has taken 239 wick­ets at 28.78.

He has rep­re­sented his coun­try in Un­der 19 Test Cricket and has played for Sri Lanka A.

Sa­chithra is also an ex­pe­ri­enced league pro­fes­sional hav­ing played for Nor­manby Hall in the North York­shire and South Durham Pre­mier League, Lit­tle­bor­ough in the Pen­nine League and Brad­shaw in the Bolton League.

He has also made a cou­ple of ap­pear­ances in the Lan­cashire League as a sub pro­fes­sional and in 2017 scored 171 not out for Ac­cring­ton against Colne.

A club spokesman said: “Our thanks go to Gary Hunt and CricIn­tro for their quick, ef­fi­cient and pro­fes­sional ser­vice.”
