I to­tally agree with Stephen Jones’s views on the need to change the far­ci­cal three-year res­i­dency rule.

Play­ers like CJ Stander, Vir­imi Vakatawa and WP Nel may add qual­ity to their squads, but home-grown tal­ent is miss­ing out.

In­ter­na­tional teams play a vi­tal role in in­spir­ing the next gen­er­a­tion to play for their coun­try. So watch­ing a project player don the shirt of his new ‘home team’ seems to de­value the act of rep­re­sent­ing your coun­try.

The res­i­dency rule should rise to eight to ten years. RW says:
