Five favourites from the Exeter and Scotland prop…
BEST AWAY GROUND
Stade de France. I made my Scotland debut there in 2009. You’re underground and then the tunnel opens up to 80,000 people and this great atmosphere.
Our summer Tests v Argentina in 2010. We beat them (24-16 and 13-9) to record a first series win in the southern hemisphere. I started both games and went well against a respected pack.
Gary Armstrong and Joost van der Westhuizen were two I admired – I wanted to be a scrum- half when I was growing up. I only moved to the front row aged 16 at Highland RFC.
One I took to Mexico with my missus. Not the party area but a nice quiet part. I really like Australia too; I spent a year in NSW Country when I was 18, working on a farm and playing rugby for Wellington Redbacks.
A cousin and I were asked to join Scotland’s sailing squad at the Institute of Sport. At 14 or 15 we came second in a 420 race at Findhorn, but there wasn’t the funding then and I took the rugby route.
