FAMILY MOMENT

“This was special. I was disappointed that a few days before (the Provincial Barbarians v Lions game) the New Zealand Herald insinuated that I’d be targeting my own son. It was a really proud moment for us, for father and son to have played against the Lions. I went up to him 30 minutes before kick-off, gave him a hug and just said ‘Play well’. And he did play well.

“Trudi and Gabby were Team Bryn that night but the next day they put their Lions kit on!

“He wants to play Super Rugby and hopes to secure a contract in the next 12 months. If not, there’s the potential to look overseas. I think he’d make a good coach one day, too; we have good debates.”
