IT HAS been a successful 2018 for New Zealand Schools, who won all three of their recent fixtures in Brisbane.
They kicked off their campaign with a 54-0 thrashing of Tonga Schools, in which Gideon Wrampling crossed for two tries, and followed it up with a 55-31 win over Australian Schools Barbarians. Wrampling again scored a brace, as did Blair Murray.
They completed the series with a 24-12 defeat of Australia Schools, with
Murray, Saula Mau, Tamaiti Williams and Rivez Reihana all scoring tries. Fly-half Reihana scored 23 points across the three matches, while full-back Murray was awarded the Jerry Collins Memorial Bronze Boot.
New Zealand’s Barbarians
Schools team lost both their fixtures in Wellington, going down 21-20 to
New Zealand Maori U18 and 15-10 to Fiji Schools. The Maori U18 side also defeated Fiji Schools 20-15. …is how long the ball is in the air from a high kick. A good target for box kicks is 3-4 seconds, enough time to make decent ground yet also allow the player chasing the kick to challenge for possession.
