THE INTERVIEW WITH A TWIST!

- By Rachel Munn

As Rob and Lucy, the parents of three excitable children, nervously entered the brand new Belmont Building, their nerves went from two to ten like a volcano shooting around their brains. Gradually they stepped into the lift along with their three children, Rosie, William and Liam. When they eventually got to the second floor, stood in front of them was the man who was about to rip them apart with questions because it was time for the interview.

Then mum and dad hesitantly stepped into the dark, frightening room; even the click of a pen could throw mum right off. Dad on the other hand, was surprisingly calm (at least that’s what it looked like) but Rosie was bored out of her skull. All of a sudden, Rosie yelled “let’s go explore”. Over and over she got louder and louder until Liam had finally given up. “Fine!” he shouted “but only for five minutes”, that’s when the trouble began.

Like a bullet, Rosie was off (with Liam and William slowly tagging behind). “Not too fast” whispered William but it was too late. She got faster and faster until she was out of sight. “Where is she?” Liam mumbled. Without even saying a word William sprinted into the lift, “come on!” he yelled as the lift went lower. Liam started hoping that he would be able to find his little sister before it was too late…

After that the lift had hit lower ground, the car park, the boys rapidly searched from top to bottom as swiftly as they could and unfortunately there was no sign of Rosie. Then Liam’s phone pinged; it was mum “where are you?” it said and the boys started to panic.

As lightning struck, the boys ran up the stairs (like they were being chased by a cheetah) and eventually stood in front of them was the room that mum and dad were being interviewed in, otherwise known as the ‘board room’. They kicked the door down and shouted “hurry up, Rosie is missing!” Mum and dad’s jaws dropped, it was like Christmas was cancelled. Then they speed walked into the lift and the boys told them everything. Finally, they decided to call the police!

Suddenly, police cars started shooting up the road, Liam, William, Mum and Dad were all so hopeful that they had found Rosie but they just had to wait and see. Then Liam came up with an idea “what if I use my tracking device!” he said excitedly. As a result it was sitting in his pocket and it said that Rosie was on the fifth floor. Straight away, the whole family got in the lift (again) but then they heard a voice “help” someone muttered and that person was Rosie.

As soon as Mum heard the voice she knew it was her little girl. Then the creaky lift doors opened and stuck outside on the roof top was Rosie. “Get the key!” she exclaimed. Finally when Dad got the door open Rosie, clasped her hands around Mum and Dad (her heroes) and they cried “we’re so happy you’re ok, we were so worried about you.” “Come on, let’s go home” announced Mum. So as they skipped happily out of the building and into the kaleidoscope coloured sky, they tightly held each other’s hands hoping nothing like this would ever happen again or will it…
