● DEREK Twigg MP has invited universities and science minister Jo Johnson to visit a Widnes tourist attraction.

The Halton MP urged Mr Johnson, brother of foreign secretary Boris Johnson, to head north to Catalyst Science Discovery Centre.

Mr Twigg said the facility does an ‘absolutely unbelievably good job’ of promoting science and engineering careers for young people but ‘struggles to keep going financially’.

Mr Johnson said: “I commend the good work going on in the hon. Gentleman’s constituency and look forward to an opportunity to visit that centre as and when it arises.”
