Fire crews called to chip shop
FIRE crews were called to a chip shop fire in Widnes.
Three fire engines attended an incident on Cronton Lane at 11.31am on Wednesday, December 28, after receiving reports of a blaze in ducting in the kitchen.
Two breathing apparatus, dry powder extinguishers, hose reel jets, covering jets, thermal imaging cameras and a high pressure fan were all used to deal with the incident.
A fire service spokesman said that care was also given to a casualty while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.
A North West Ambulance Service spokeswoman said that a call was received at 11.50am to attend the Cronton Fish Bar and that a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance were sent.
The spokeswoman added that a ‘patient’ was taken to Whiston Hospital, but could not confirm the gender or what specific injuries had been suffered.
