Fire crews called to chip shop

FIRE crews were called to a chip shop fire in Widnes.

Three fire en­gines at­tended an in­ci­dent on Cron­ton Lane at 11.31am on Wed­nes­day, De­cem­ber 28, af­ter re­ceiv­ing re­ports of a blaze in duct­ing in the kitchen.

Two breath­ing ap­pa­ra­tus, dry pow­der ex­tin­guish­ers, hose reel jets, cov­er­ing jets, ther­mal imag­ing cam­eras and a high pres­sure fan were all used to deal with the in­ci­dent.

A fire ser­vice spokesman said that care was also given to a ca­su­alty while wait­ing for an am­bu­lance to ar­rive.

A North West Am­bu­lance Ser­vice spokes­woman said that a call was re­ceived at 11.50am to at­tend the Cron­ton Fish Bar and that a rapid re­sponse ve­hi­cle and an am­bu­lance were sent.

The spokes­woman added that a ‘pa­tient’ was taken to Whis­ton Hos­pi­tal, but could not con­firm the gen­der or what spe­cific in­juries had been suf­fered.
