Coun­cil con­sid­ers pub sale

TOWN hall chiefs have ap­proved the sale of Hal­ton Coun­cil’s free­hold own­er­ship of a va­cant Run­corn pub.

Ex­ec­u­tive board mem­bers gave the green light for the dis­posal of its in­ter­est in The Croft ale­house on Hal­ton Lodge Av­enue but de­tails of who to and for how much re­main un­pub­lished.

The meet­ing was off lim­its to the press and pub­lic.

Ac­cord­ing to Hal­ton Coun­cil, this was to pre­vent de­tails of the deal from prej­u­dic­ing fu­ture com­mer­cial deal­ings.

Min­utes of the ses­sion said agents for the buyer had ex­pressed an in­ter­est in de­vel­op­ing the site for res­i­den­tial use as as­sisted liv­ing ac­com- ● mo­da­tion.

The Croft pub has been closed for about two years.

It was one of three booz­ers whose free­holds were owned by Hal­ton Coun­cil and re­vealed by a Tax­pay­ers’ Al­liance study, the oth­ers be­ing The Old Trans­porter in The Brow and The Fid­dlers Three in Castle­fields.
