Women freed after two car collision

FIREFIGHTE­RS freed two women following a crash in Runcorn on Monday.

Cheshire Fire And Rescue Service said the collision involved two cars and happened on the Central Expressway.

Crews were called to the scene at 6.05pm.

A North West Ambulance Service spokeswoma­n said two patients were taken to Whiston and Warrington hospitals.

One of them had back and neck pain.

She said paramedics had been called to Daresbury Expressway close to the Mersey Gateway bridge site at 6pm.

A CFRS spokeswoma­n said: “Two women were trapped.

“Crews worked alongside paramedics to release the two women who were then handed to the care of the ambulance service.”
