Man faces trial after denying wounding

-

A DEFENDANT from Runcorn has denied causing wounding with intent.

Francis Thomas, 55, of Manor Farm Mews, pleaded not guilty at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday, July 12, before His Honour Judge Nicholas Woodward.

Jayne Morris represented the prosecution and John Weate appeared for the defence.

The case had been listed for trial the week beginning January 22.

A timetable of statements of evidence was agreed.

Judge Woodward also asked for a count of Section 20 assault to be added to the indictment.

Mr Weate indicated his client intended to plead not guilty to the charge in due course in addition to the Section 18 wounding with intent allegation.

Thomas was charged following an alleged incident on Church Street in Runcorn on April 21.
