Art gift for fire station

-

A DRAWING of a firefighter in action, saving a woman from a burning building, has been handed over to crews in Widnes.

Linda Macklin, of Fairfield Road, presented a drawing called Saved, a pencil sketch of a famous painting, at Widnes Fire Station.

Linda said: “It was drawn for my mum by a local artist and it was in my mum’s house. We don’t have any connection with firefighters, she just liked stuff like that.

“I’ve had it for about five or six years.

“I love the picture but I thought I would give it to the firefighters.

“I wanted to give something back.

“Plus the boys love fire engines and firefighters.

“My little one, all he talks about is firefighters and Fireman Sam.”

Linda’s three sons were given a tour of the station and the fire engine by the crew and were even shown some of the equipment the firefighters use to rescue people from cars.

Widnes Fire Station manager John Boswell ● said: “Any gift that is given to the station from a member of the public is always nice to receive.

“It shows that the public have an appreciation for what we do.

“The picture is going to be pride of place in our rec room.”
