THE Women Aagainst State Pension Inequality (WASPI) Widnes and Runcorn group’s next meeting is due to take place tonight.

Runcorn Golf Club will host the event at 7.30pm, Thursday, August 31.

A spokeswoman said meetings will alternate between Widnes and Runcorn to be fair to members.

WASPI’s aim is to bring in a transitional phase to raising the state pension age to 65.

Campaigners have said ongoing changes mean women born in the 1950s have been left with little time to adapt or make other arrangements and that the reforms have happened with little or no notice and faster than planned.

The spokeswoman said: “Please come along as the group is all about trying to get either compensation or transitional arrangements for as many 1950s women as possible, regarding the rapid rise in their state pension age, with little or no notice.

“Writing your complaint letters to the Department Of Work And Pensions is the sure way to putting your name on that list of claimants.”
